Born and raised in Los Angeles, Spencer has always been very interested in how things work. While he was in High School he worked in a one-hour photo lab and then soon started taking photos.
He knew right away that he wanted to become a photographer as it allowed him to observe, learn and share in a way that resonates with the majority. After a few different jobs in camera stores and photo labs he decided to go to Art school.
He graduated from Art Center of Design in 2007 with a degree in fine art. Upon leaving Art Center he was immediately contracted to photograph for NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab where he worked for 6 months. A perfect fit considering that when he was young, Spencer went to space camp.
His work has appeared in the following magazines; TIME Magazine, Dwell, 10 Magazine, Intersection, Angeleno, Los Angeles Magazine, Scientific American, Mr. Porter, Esquire UK, Wired, Popular Mechanics, The London Financial Times, Fortune and Discover.
His Commercial clients include: Vans, Jet Propulsion Lab and Commune Design.
