From the Archive: Jewelry by Architects

On a collection of postmodern jewelry.


In the early 80′s, Italian designer Cleto Munari asked a few of his architect and designer friends to create a jewelry collection for his eponymous brand. That’s how Mario Bellini, Michele de Lucchi, Peter Eisenman, Michael Graves, Hans Hollein, Arata Isozaki, Richard Meier, Alessandro Mendini, Paolo Portoghesi, Peter Shire, Ettore Sottsass, Stanley Tigerman, Oscar Tusquets, Robert Venturi, Lella Vignelli, and Marco Zanini came up with some truly interesting and unique pieces of jewelry in their very own style — a Memphis style.
