Sunja Park Ceramics
09.28.2017

For the past 24 years, Sunja Park has been making ceramics here in Southern California. She originally began throwing so she could take a break from sitting in front of her computer, while working in graphic design for the A&M Records art department. Since then, Sunja has devoted her time to creating large, uniquely colorful high-fired stoneware in her backyard. Her work is reminiscent of ceramics from the 60’s and 70’s, and her freehand shapes and drippy glaze textures make each piece one of a kind. Sunja works organically, often working in concentrated, creative bursts. Her production output is small, with generally less then a couple hundred pieces a year, so she only makes things she enjoys. Take a look at Sunja as she’s been making through the years, and check out our new collection of her lamps, plates, and bowls available for purchase at the Commune Shop
